 "30th Gatherings"

DATE: May 26 (Wednesday)

TIME:
6:30pm - Gather

7:00pm - 9:00pm - Join in the Conversation:
TOPIC: "Examining White Privilege ~ Initiated Men Engage Inclusiveness"

LOCATION:
Jane House

The Men's Rites of Passage was a threshold moment for each of us.
It was another new beginning, where we each took another step into a deeper faith journey.
Like all faith journey's, a key part of any journey is who we are in relationship with along the way.

As members of MN M.A.L.E.S., we are explicitly called to be about
building a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-generational work - - - to create a community where ALL are, in fact, known by name,
welcomed as brothers and equals, and inherently valued.

A Question to Ponder:
Given that today's MN MALES (Men As Learners and Elders) membership reality is arguablya rather homogeneous white male community ...
 -  what seeds are we planting for our community membership to be different in the future?

So, please come join us and enter into the mystery of an evening of conversation as we begin to examine what  White Privilege is,
how it shows up in our culture, what impact it has on our call to unity - - -
and what Spirit may be awakening in us as we move ahead.

We will engage the heart of these issues in a mutually respectful and thought  provoking manner.
Trish Vanni and Tom Klein will facilitate the conversation.

P.S.
This engaging presentation will be grounded in 3 key resources:

1. The Gospel
2.  Richard Rohr's work
3. Social Justice & White Privilege Training Materials, particularly the seminal works:
A. Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack by Peggy McIntosh
B. DVD: White Privilege: Getting in on the Conversation

From Tom Klein (30th Gathering Coordinator)
